The Streamflow was a short lived effort by the Evinrude Motors Co. to produce a deluxe, sprung frame bicycle employing their aluminum casting technology that was successful with the outboard boat motors.
The bike was advertised as the “Bumpless” or “Floating Ride” as the crank hanger and seat were suspended from the frame. Even the handlebars were cushioned with rubber. The Streamflows were offered in a base and deluxe model sometimes referred to as the “Imperial”. Priced at the top of the market the Imperial models were also equipped with a built in speedometer and better seat.
The bicycles proved to be too complicated in design and were prone to stress fractures, particulalrly at the front forks, and were quickly discontinued making these bikes fairly scarce today.
