Roadmaster was the in-house brand of the Cleveland Welding Co. who made bicycles for many hardware, department, and tire stores. One of the most desired balloon tire bicycles is the ’37 Roadmaster Supreme. Affectionately called the “Bug Eye” by collectors due to its dual headlight in-tank configuration it ranks as one of the rarest of the pre-war bikes. There are currently less than a dozen of these bikes known. Besides the unique tank the bike features a “Y” frame, a full length chainguard, and a curved crank. This is a one year only design. In 1938 a full horn tank referred to as the “Four Gill” replaced the “Bug Eye” tank with either single or dual headlights on the fender. This bike was bought from the original owner’s family a few years ago and given a full restoration in its original colors. Owner: Shawn Sweeney
