The Mercury Pacemaker was designed by renowned industrial designer Viktor Schreckengost who designed everything from cab-over trucks to lawn chairs to dinner ware. Variations of this model were made from 1939 when it was introduced as the ‘official bike’ of the New York World’s Fair until 1941. The bikes were manufactured by Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company and distributed through various retailers. The “Mercury” name has no connection to the cars produced by Ford Motor Co.
This bike is a Model 7 Pacemaker manufactured in the last year of production. This bike features a beautiful two-tone paint scheme and an unusual ‘train’ headlight similar to those used by both Rollfast and Monark. This last year model also featured the Stewart Warner “floating” front hub. Owner: Shawn Sweeney
