Frank Schwinn set Arnold, Schwinn & Co. apart from other bicycle manufacturers through innovation beginning in 1933 with the introduction of the balloon tire bicycle. In 1938 Schwinn again revolutionized the bicycle industry with the introduction of both the cantilever frame and knee action spring fork. Due to WWII Schwinn didn’t produce any bicycles from 1942-1945.
The 1941 Autocycle saw the introduction of the “big” feather guard and the newer style cantilever tank both of which would be used after the war and until the end of the Schwinn balloon tire bikes. This is an original paint bike with an uncommon color combination of two-tone blue with gold pinstripes. Owner: Shawn Sweeney
