So I got out of bed at 2 a.m. Saturday morning and made the six hour ride to Murfreesboro. I had never attended this show so I didn’t really know what to expect. Despite the threat of rain this show had a good turnout and a steady stream of people buying parts and bikes. There was a brief rain shower for about 15 minutes and then we were right back to business.
There was a little something for everyone at this show to include some really cool off-brand muscle bikes, pre and post war balloon tire bikes, customs, rats, motorized, a good selection of parts and assorted collectibles and antiques as well. I picked up a girls Shelby Speedline that I had pre-bought but also added a new sled to my collection and a great wagon as well.
The beauty of shows is that you just never know who or what will show up. I ran into a couple of friends I really didn’t expect to see and made some new friends as well. To me this is the best part of a show. Building a network and cultivating relationships is what collecting is all about. Many people rely on online venues such as forums, EBay, or the various online marketplaces to make their next score. The reality is a lot of the ‘good stuff’ is never publicly offered but rather a phone call, email, or text is exchanged and a deal is done. The moral of the story–get out and meet some people!
